Ep19 – Jinagya Ej Saachi Mudra | True Representation of Jain Sangh

The essence of every Jinvachan lies in the principle of ‘Anae Dhammo’. The Jain Agams are the literal embodiment of this principle. It is beneficial for every action, thought, and speech to be aligned with this principle.

In reality, the authority to make appropriate and beneficial decisions for governance lies with the Dharmacharyas. The Shravaks cannot take important policy decisions regarding, Tirth, Sangh or Shashan without informing, asking or taking consent of Dharmacharyas.

Although lay Shravaks may have power in administrative areas, they should never interfere or challenge the decisions made by the Dharmacharyas. This is why the Jain Sangh is referred to as shraman Pradhan Chaturvidh Sangh. And when it comes to matters related to the Jin Agams, it becomes imperative to strictly follow them.

In the analogy given by Pujya Acharya Bhadrabahu Swami, there is a paradox. When the instructions of the Sangh were based on Jin Vachan, Acharya Bhadrabahu Swami accepted them and strictly followed even during his rigid schedule.

However, when the Sangh gave instructions which were not according to jin agna to teach the last four Purvas, Acharya Bhadrabahu Swami did not accept them.

At that time, the Sangh did not say that those who do not adhere to the command of Sangh are liable to Prayaschit, they were aware that Acharya Bhadrabahu Swami was in accordance with the Jinagnya. Pujya Bhadrabahu Swami was also very clear in his understanding of Jinvachan that if the Sangh gives instructions against Jinagnya then he is not bound to adhere to them.
